Foreign Degree Recognition – Medicine
Latest update: 12 January 2026.
We inform you that the regulations concerning the issuance of the Qualification Certificate for the INEP exam are still pending a Ministry of Education (MEC) Ordinance, as established by CNE/CES Resolution No. 02/2024.
UFSC is awaiting the publication of this Ordinance in order to define its internal procedures. Applicants are advised to wait for the publication of the next REVALIDA call for applications.
RECOGNITION OF UNDERGRADUATE DEGREES IN MEDICINE OBTAINED ABROAD
The recognition process for foreign undergraduate degrees in Medicine at UFSC differs from that of other degree programs, since applicants must first pass the INEP REVALIDA exam before applying for degree recognition at UFSC.
For more information about the REVALIDA exam, please visit the INEP webpages: http://revalida.inep.gov.br/revalida and https://www.gov.br/inep/pt-br/areas-de-atuacao/avaliacao-e-exames-educacionais/revalida.
Application procedures after passing the INEP REVALIDA exam
Applicants who have passed the INEP REVALIDA exam and wish to apply for degree recognition at UFSC, must submit the complete documentation by email, in accordance with UFSC requirements.
At the end of the process, if recognition is granted, a fee of R$ 200.00, as established by Normative Resolution No. 37/2025/CC, must be paid for the registration of the Recognition Certificate.
Applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. UFSC has up to 30 days to carry out the preliminary review of the submitted documentation and notify the applicant.
For the recognition of undergraduate degrees in Medicine, due to UFSC’s adherence to REVALIDA, the maximum period for completion of the process is 60 academic days from the date of application, in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Education (MEC) and UFSC.
