Undergraduate Studies Council (CEG)

The Undergraduate Studies Council is a deliberative and consultative body on undergraduate and basic education matters, chaired by the Prorector for Undergraduate Studies and Basic Education, who is appointed by the Rector.

The responsibilities of the Undergraduate Studies Council are:

  • approve undergraduate and basic education curricula;
  • propose policies and regulations related to undergraduate programs and basic education to the University Council;
  • approve the creation or discontinuation of undergraduate and basic education programs;
  • act as an appellate body in undergraduate and basic education matters when illegality in decisions issued by Unit Councils is alleged;
  • draft and approve the Council’s operating rules;
  • approve the regulations regarding the University Entrance Examination (Vestibular);
  • establish evaluation policies for undergraduate and basic education ;
  • propose rules and guidelines concerning the workload of teaching staff, including those in basic education, to the University Council;
  • issue opinions on matters, proposals or plans within its area of competence;
  • elect the Council’s representatives to the University Council, with no more than one representative permitted per Academic Unit and no representative from basic education permitted.
